HGA Website Glitch – Workaround

It appear there is a glitch in the website this season and we are unable to remove the players out of the HGA position.

I’ve contacted the bench with 2 emails but received no reply.

I’ve asked him to either remove all the players from the HGA position for us or better still remove the HGA position entirely.

So as a temporary workaround I’ve added a player into the HGA positions of all clubs if there wasn’t one already. So teams I’ve added a player into the HGA position are:

  • Kurshers – Liam Picken
  • Mayblooms – Caleb Daniel
  • Twaddstars – Sam Jacobs

Everyone else already had a player in the HGA position.

I believe I selected players who were not in your selected sides – please check this Karl/Tobes/Twadds

This workaround should be effective as it will mean that rather than adding 5 points post game to the home teams, I’ll just subtract 5 points from the away teams instead.

How to correct subs post game

Chaps,

Note this post about subs

Reminder re Subs

However since this, I’ve figured out how to change subs post game if the bench auto-subs for you incorrectly ie not the subbing you would like.
As a result this is now the information that is required to be provided to Logistix in order for a sub to be effected for you and your resultant score changed:

  1. Who is the player in the starting team that needed to be replaced
  2. What position was that player in
  3. Who did the bench erroneously sub in for them
  4. Who would you like subbed in for them

Reminder re Subs

Firstly, reminder for the coaches that the Bench auto-subs in order of the bench e.g. bench 1 first, then bench 2 etc. However our rules allow any subbing to occur from the bench that maximises your score at the discretion of the coach. So post game you need to notify the administrator the following

  • 1) Who subs in for who and why the on-field person qualifies to be subbed.
  • 2) What score the person subbing in gets compared to the person they subbed in for.
  • 3) What the change to the total team score is as a result of your sub changes

Only if you provide all the above will the administrator make a post game change to the scores as you request.

Secondly, a remember what qualifies a player to be subbed off

Firstly they need to be a named player in the AFL team lists or where this can’t apply (e.g. early starts to the round) then  use the good faith naming rule. Then to qualify to be subbed they need to meet 1 of the following conditions:

  • They are a late withdrawal
  • They were injured and as a result played no more than 3 quarters in the match as per this rule change last year

Replacing Injured Players with Bench Players

Setting up your Draft Preferences on the bench

You can create lists of draft preferences in advance of the draft. This will make drafting lot easier and quicker at the time. When your turn comes up the top available player on the relevant draft preferences list will be suggested for your selection.

If you have “draft auto-picks” option enabled that player will be automatically selected – you won’t have any control.

If you don’t have “draft auto-picks” option enabled that player will only be suggested. You still have the final say and discretion whether to choose him or someone else. I’d recommend this as the safest option. Consequently I’m turning this “draft auto-picks” option off for all clubs. If you choose to turn it back on (not recommended) you can do so by doing the following:

Enabling draft auto-picks

  • Click on your team name at the top right of the screen and choose “My Profile:
  • Then on the left hand side under “My Games” under “HFFL 2017” you can select the “Edit Club Details” button (you have to hover over the button that looks like an edit button to see these words).
  • Then under “Enable draft auto-picks”. It should be deselected. Check the box to select it.

How to create draft preferences

Go to “Home” at top menu

Then on the left click on “Preferences” (just to the right of “Clubs”)

At this stage you can start adding players to a single list of draft preferences.

However better than this, if you click on “Advanced Options” which is in small grey writing jus a few lines below “Add a Player” you will get a greater range of draft preference options.

e.g. you have several lists you can make for your draft preferences. It would make sense to make a list for each of the different positions (e.g. Midfielder, Marker etc) and have a set of draft preferences in each list.

You can then assign which list the bench should look at for which of your picks. e.g. for my 1st pick look at my Forwards list and then for my 2nd pick look at my marker list.

I believe that you can update all this on the fly during the draft – ie change who is on which draft preference list and change which draft preference list the bench suggests from for different turns.

Remember as long as the “Enable Draft Auto-picks” is deselected (as I’ve made it for all) these players will not be auto-selected, they will merely be suggested to you.

Check the eligibility of your retentions

Coaches,

It is your responsibility to makes sure your retentions are exactly the category you say they are (e.g. elite, 11-20, sub-20, rookie).

Use the stats sheet provided to check

You may think they are sub-20 but they may be say 11-20 in one of the new positions. So make sure you check each of the published lists.

AFL & HFFL 2016 Season Stats including Elites & Top 20

If you make a mistake your retention will be disallowed and you’ll go into the PSD at a great disadvantage. So be diligent.

The Dark Side win the 2016 HFFL Premiership

Congratulations to the Dark Side who defeated Rapid Sossage 228-172 in the HFFL 2016 Grand Final to claim their 4th flag, now equal with the mighty Twaddstars.

Commiserations but also congratulations to the Rapid Sossage for making their 2nd grand final in 3 years! Fine effort, especially from 4th. Well done also for the Pots and Stars continuing the perennial finals form and for the Mayblooms who after their historic Premiership to relegation story of 2012-2103, have made every finals series since.

The premiership team was a good mixture of 1 elite retention, 2 high draft picks and a rag tag bunch of aspiring stars cobbled together through the season, also demonstrating that there is still some quality to be found in the MSD. The Dark Side grand final team and their draft pick/retention status were as follows:

Dark Side 2016 Grand Final Team

F: T.Membrey (MSD-9th), J.Daniher (Retained- Sub 20)

Ma: N.Riewoldt (Retained-Elite)

Mi: D.Haneberry (PSD-6th), R.Laird (PSD-66th), J.Lloyd (PSD-106th)

T: J.Viney (PSD-15th)

U: T.Greene (MSD-25th)

R: J.Watts (MSD-14th), T.Boak (Retained-Sub 20)

Unlucky but notable omission who was dropped for the GF only: J.Johanissen (PSD-135th)

Lottery Ball Finals Series

Congratulations to the Squadron for winning the LB GF and securing 5 lottery balls. The order of lottery ball allocations are as follows:

  • Squadron 5
  • Krushers 4
  • Real Saints 3
  • Rhubarbs 2
  • Brewsers 1

Lottery to be drawn sometime soonish.

It’s been a great season and I’ll wrap up the highlights later, but there will be a little more to do before we enter the post season break with the imminent release of 3 new proposed positions shortly for discussion and voting on this week.

In addition the preliminary elite/top 20 stats and HFFL mastersheet will be released after the final AFL regular season round.

Kind Regards,

Fix for problem logging in from iPhone

Problem:

Karl and Tobes had trouble logging into this website from their iPhone using Safari.

Twadds and I have had no problem.

Solution:

Try using Chrome or Firefox browsers on the iPhone. Both are free to download.
