Administrative ruling: What we do if The Bench goes down mid round

Coaches,

This weekend demonstrated the real threat and question of what do we do if the bench goes down mid round. Luckily when it was restored all our teams were still in place and scores were calculated normally – but what do we do if the teams/scores are not there when the bench recovers?

This is the plan and ruling:

  • It is strongly recommended by the Administrator that all coaches email out their teams each week as well as post via the bench. Plugger usually starts such an email chain so you can respond to this with a screenshot of your team or a written version.
  • This recommendation is not mandatory. ie if you don’t email your team out and the bench remains functional your game will stand as normal
  • In the event that the bench goes down and we lose the teams, opposing coaches should attempt to verify their teams and scores.
  • Where a team’s scores can not be accurately verified because that team was not emailed out by the coach, that team will be awarded a loss and an arbitrary score will be entered for that team by the administrator
  • Where both team’s scores can not be accurately verified because both those teams were not emailed out, a draw will be awarded and an arbitrary scoreline entered for both teams by the administrator

So in summary, the theme of this ruling is, if you choose not to follow the administrator’s recommendation regarding emailing out your team each week, this will work against you in the event of a technical error on the bench.

Aside from protecting yourself, there is an additional league benefit of emailing out your team each week as it tends to generate banter.
